Mijn naam is Hans Schoens. Voor een heel groot deel gewerkt voor de kost en in mijn vrije tijd voornamelijk artistiek bezig gehouden. Of het nu gaat om muziek, schilderen, schrijven, fotograferen, meubels ontwerpen en maken, soms voor anderen maar voornamelijk voor mijzelf. Omdat ik het leuk vind. En een ieder die het mooi vind is mooi meegenomen. Op deze vernieuwde website gaat het over muziek, schilderen, schrijven. Dat is al een heel verhaal.

Schilderskunst:

In mijn eigenwijze stijl van vormgeving, structuur, kleuren en onderwerpen, uiteraard voor eigen plezier zijn gemaakt, weet mijn kunstwerken toch een groot publiek te onderhouden en te waarderen.

Met voornamelijk drie verschillende stijlen van abstract, portret en (sur)realistisch waar ik allemaal met veel plezier aan werk, heb ik de schilderijen gegroepeerd. Een schilderij wordt pas verkocht aan een nieuwe eigenaar als deze er goed mee omgaat en zal onderhouden. Want de gebruikte professionele producten zorgen ervoor dat deze vele generaties lang in goede conditie blijven.

De Stijl,

Met respect voor Piet Mondriaan die vroeg in de vorige eeuw reeds deze abstracte vormgeving toepaste, pas ik een op enigerlijwijze gelijkende vormgeving toe maar daar houdt het mee op. De schilderkunst die ik hanteer gaat verder. Elke lijn, vlak en kleur is driedimensionaal opgezet met verschillende verdikkingen, golfbewegingen enzovoort en heeft een betekenis. Buiten het totale beeld kan het zelfs uit meerdere uitbeeldingen of betekenissen bestaan en is meestal tot het minimalisme terug gebracht om zo de kijker de tijd te geven zelf te ontdekken welke verborgen signalen erin zijn verborgen. Door de relatief dikke lijnen en vlakken kan ook een slechtziend of visueel beperkt persoon toch mijn werken bewonderen.

Portretten,

Hoewel het in eigen stijl opgebrachte vlakken zijn wordt getracht zoveel mogelijk realistisch te werk te gaan, waarbij soms pop-art kleuren niet wordt geschroomd. Alle portretten zijn gemaakt van personen die mij dierbaar zijn.

Landschap,

Hoewel hiervan nog niet alle doeken van zijn gepubliceerd omdat enkele nog niet het definitieve stadium hebben bereikt maak ik van kleine vlakjes een geheel dat op afstand als een realistisch landschap zichtbaar wordt. Meestal worden de kleurkeuze zo gebruikt dat pas bij avond met een spotlicht tot haar volle recht komt, waardoor het werk gaat “leven”.

Muziek:

Ik zou niet weten wat leven zonder muziek is. Het bespelen ervan om anderen te plezieren is prachtig maar zelf muziekstukken componeren is voor mij altijd de grootste liefhebberij geweest. Al op jonge leeftijd toen ik de eerste noten begon te spelen, heb ik naast bestaande werken van artiesten ook zelf composities gemaakt. Als snel vond ik dat ik niet beïnvloed moest worden door andermans werk en maakte alleen nog mijn eigen composities. Hetgeen niet altijd werd geapprecieerd. Deze ontwikkelde zich van psychedelische en complexe composities naar meer luistermuziek als Old School Berlin en Space Odyssee, beter bekend als New Age. De schare fans werd naarmate ik rustiger ging spelen groter tijdens de theaterperiode. Maar de doorbraak kwam met kunstzinnige stijl die ik er ook op nahield, Minimum Music. Moderne Klassiek met minimale muzieknoten, melodieus dat de laatste jaren meer populair begint te worden. Ik zorgde voor soms spannende en meestal licht verteerbare muziek waarbij de titelsong al voldoende was als aanknopingspunt voor wat er komen gaat. Hoewel men het meestal als zware muziek beschouwde.

Al vanaf het begin zijn mijn stukken die ik heb uitgebracht verhaallijnen of fantasie dromen die je in gedachten op weg doen mijmeren naar vreemde landen, gebeurtenissen of diep het universum in. Zo interpreteer elk persoon weer anders mijn muziek, en dat is ook mijn bedoeling. Mijn mening is, dat muziek dient als een klank-beeld waarbij je zelf de rest mag invullen.

Ik heb vanaf 1981 tot 2003 met regelmaat muziek uitgebracht en toen was dat voor mij even voldoende. Vooral door negativiteit en jaloezie. Daarmee ging de inspiratie naar nieuwe uitdagingen met naar andere kunstvormen zoals het schrijven van een populair wetenschappelijk boek, fotografie en schilderkunst. Maar het bleef altijd kriebelen en een gemis in het rustgevende dat muziek maakt. Vanaf 2020 heb ik mijn kleine studio gerenoveerd en enkele oude instrumenten vervangen voor nieuwe huidige technieken. De renovatie heeft een jaar gekost. Nu in 2022 zijn er reeds twee albums uitgekomen. Nog beter en nog indrukwekkender dan al mijn voorgaande composities. En een derde komt waarschijnlijk ook nog in 2022 uit. Zo zie je maar dat volledige rust en hoofd leeg maken soms goed is voor je ontwikkeling en expressies.

Schrijfwerk:

Hoewel taalkundig ik op de lagere school niet bepaald een uitblinker was, eerder nog het tegenovergestelde zoals de rapportcijfers aantoonde, was schrijven voor mij al op jonge leeftijd een creatieve uitlaatklep.

Niet alleen met mijn handen iets creatiefs maken maar ook schrijven heb ik altijd leuk gevonden, en kon inhoudelijk heel verschillend zijn, van verhalen tot technische beschrijvingen. Het bedenken, plots of oplossingen zijn eigenlijk de uitdaging, iets verrassend neer te zetten dat ook daadwerkelijk werd gelezen.

Veel van mijn schrijfwerk is verloren gegaan omdat het toen nog niet zo serieus werd genomen. En dat zorgt voor minder zelfvertrouwen.

Het echte schrijfwerk begon pas op toen ik in de redactie zat van de PCGG (Perscombinatie Gebruikers Groep) Computer club van de toenmalige nieuwsbladenbedrijf Perscombinatie waaronder Trouw, Volkskrant en De Waarheid onder viel. Hier kon ik mijn creativiteit volledig loslaten en de lezers namen het gretig af. Ik vulde nagenoeg het hele blad op allerlei vlakken, dit hoefde niet altijd technisch te zijn maar ook maatschappelijke gevolgen door automatisering en dergelijke. Het was een prachtige tijd.

Maar ook heb ik wel thrillers, sf, regie en theaterstukken geschreven en vele andere soorten documenten tot aan poëzie en libretto’s voor de opera dat ik had gecomponeerd. Alles in de ban van creatie en vernieuwing.

De laatste tijd gaat het om serieus werk en heb me toegelegd op Egyptologische wetenswaardigheden.

Na jarenlange kennis opgedaan door studie in schrift van de oude Egyptenaren (hiërogliefen), taal en cultuur bij egyptoloog Huub Pragt, heb ik dan eindelijk de stoute schoenen aangetrokken om zelf een Egyptologisch boek te schrijven. Een boek dat anders dan elk ander boek moest worden. En kan worden gebruikt als gids, naslagwerk, leesboek, schoolboek, fotoboek etc. Het boek beslaat heel veel informatie, geschreven op een wijze dat lekker wegleest in begrijpelijke taal. Met meer informatie dat de gebruikelijke consumenten boekwerk maar niet het saaie stoffige wetenschappelijke waar vaak over wordt gedacht. Geschikt voor iedereen, van jong tot oud. Uiteindelijk zijn meerdere delen op papier gezet en de eerste was uitgebracht, Opper-Nubië in Soedan om vervolgens de stroom van de Nijl te volgen tot de Delta in Egypte in zes delen.

Helaas is per eind november 2020 is ons website http://www.rijkderfaraos.nl opgeheven. Teveel problemen met terugkerende hack’s en de vele dagelijkse spam’s hebben daar voor gezorgd. Ik werd er moedeloos van en heb de knoop doorgehakt door de stekker van de website en emailadres eruit te trekken.

Gelukkig had ik nog deze blog beschikbaar die vóór het grote avontuur van het boek uitgeven was aangemaakt. Huidige stand is dat het voorlopig blijft bij het eerste deel Opper-Nubië. De reden is dat we nu 6 jaar bezig zijn om onze al kleine aantal bedrukte boeken aan de man te brengen. Iets wat eerlijk gezegd moeilijker is dan gedaan, ondanks de vele lovende woorden van mensen die het boek in bezit hebben. De kosten liepen daarom eerder op dan dat we reserve konden aanmaken om deel 2 af te laten drukken. Een separaat boekwerk met voornamelijk de mooiste foto’s uit de complete serie apart uitbrengen is ook niet gelukt want geen enkele uitgever wil in deze tijd een kostbaar dik boek uitbrengen met alleen foto’s en achterin een beknopte beschrijving in 4 talen. Dat lukt alleen als je bekend bent of wordt gesubsidieerd. Ik had hiermee gehoopt reserves op te kunnen bouwen en eventueel bij succes tevens het eerste deel vertalen naar het Engels. Dit alles is niet gelukt. En ondanks de vele smeekbedes van lezers moet ik helaas nog steeds nee verkopen. Maar zeg nooit nooit.

Fotografie

Ook om mijn fotografie ben ik redelijk bekend en wordt wel eens gevraagd door musea en wetenschappers uit mijn grote collectie foto’s. Mijn fotografie is zo omvangrijk dat deze in een aparte website zal komen te zijner tijd.

My name is Hans Schoens. For a very large part worked for a living and in my spare time mainly engaged artistically. Be it music, painting, writing, photography, designing and making furniture, sometimes for others but mainly for myself. Because I like it. And anyone who likes it is beautiful. This revamped website is about music, painting, writing. That’s already quite a story.

Paintings:

In my idiosyncratic style of design, structure, colours and subjects, obviously created for my own pleasure, my artworks still manage to entertain and appreciate a large audience.

With mainly three different styles of abstract, portrait and (sur)realistic all of which I enjoy working on, I have grouped the paintings. A painting will only be sold to a new owner if it is handled and maintained properly. Because the professional products used ensure that it remains in good condition for many generations.

De Stijl,

Respecting Piet Mondrian who already applied this abstract design early in the last century, I apply a somewhat similar design but it stops there. The painting I use goes further. Every line, plane and colour is set up three-dimensionally with different thickening, undulations and so on and has a meaning. Beyond the overall image, it may even consist of multiple depictions or meanings and is usually reduced to minimalism to give the viewer time to discover for himself what hidden signals are hidden in it. Due to the relatively thick lines and planes, even a partially sighted or visually impaired person can still admire my works.

Portraits,

Although they are in my own style, I try to be as realistic as possible, sometimes using pop-art colours. All portraits are of people who are dear to me.

Landscape,

Although not all canvases of these have been published yet because some have not yet reached the final stage, I turn small areas into a whole that can be seen from a distance as a realistic landscape. Usually the choice of colours are used in such a way that only at night with a spotlight it comes to its full potential, making the work “come alive”.

Music:

I wouldn’t know what life is without music. Playing it to please others is wonderful but composing pieces of music myself has always been my greatest hobby. From an early age when I started playing the first notes, I created my own compositions alongside existing works by artists. Soon I found that I should not be influenced by other people’s work and only made my own compositions. Which was not always appreciated. This developed from psychedelic and complex compositions to more listening music like Old School Berlin and Space Odyssey, better known as New Age. The fan base grew as I started playing more quietly during the theatre period. But the breakthrough came with artistic style that I also took to, Minimum Music. Modern Classical with minimal musical notes, melodic that is starting to become more popular in recent years. I provided sometimes exciting and mostly easily digestible music where the title track was enough of a lead-in to what was to come. Although people usually considered it heavy music.
Ever since the beginning, my pieces I released have been storylines or fantasy dreams that make you muse away in your mind to foreign lands, events or deep into the universe. Thus, each person interprets my music differently, and that is also my intention. My opinion is that music serves as a sound-image in which you can fill in the rest yourself.
I released music regularly from 1981 to 2003 and then that was enough for me for a while. Mainly because of negativity and jealousy. With that, inspiration went to new challenges with other art forms such as writing a popular science book, photography and painting. But it always remained itchy and a lack in the soothing that makes music. From 2020, I renovated my small studio and replaced some old instruments for new current techniques. The renovation took a year. Now in 2022, two albums have already been released. Even better and even more impressive than all my previous compositions. And a third will probably be released in 2022 as well. So you see, complete rest and head clearing is sometimes good for your development and expressions.

Writing:

Although linguistically I was not exactly an outlier in primary school, rather the opposite as the report cards showed, writing was a creative outlet for me from an early age.
Not just making something creative with my hands, I have always enjoyed writing, and it could be very different in content, from stories to technical descriptions. Devising, plots or solutions were actually the challenge, putting down something surprising that was actually read.
A lot of my writing got lost because it wasn’t taken as seriously back then. And that makes for less self-confidence.
The real writing work only began when I was on the editorial board of the PCGG (Perscombinatie Users Group) Computer club of the then newspaper company Perscombinatie under which Trouw, Volkskrant and De Waarheid fell. Here I could completely unleash my creativity and readers took to it eagerly. I filled almost the entire magazine in all sorts of areas, this did not always have to be technical but also social implications through automation and the like. It was a wonderful time.
But I did also write thrillers, sf, directorial and theatrical pieces and many other kinds of papers up to poetry and librettos for the opera that I had composed. All under the spell of creation and innovation.
Lately, it has been about serious work and have turned to Egyptological sciences.

After years of gaining knowledge through study in writing of the ancient Egyptians (hieroglyphics), language and culture by Egyptologist Huub Pragt, I finally took the bold step of writing an Egyptological book myself. A book that was to be unlike any other. And can be used as a guide, reference book, reading book, school book, picture book, etc. The book covers a lot of information, written in a way that is easy to read in understandable language. With more information than the usual consumer book but not the boring dusty scientific stuff that is often thought of. Suitable for everyone, from young to old. Eventually several volumes were put on paper and the first was released, Upper Nubia in Sudan to then follow the flow of the Nile to the Delta in Egypt in six volumes.
Unfortunately, as of the end of November 2020, our website http://www.rijkderfaraos.nl has been discontinued. Too many problems with recurring hacks and the many daily spams have caused this. I became despondent and tied the knot by pulling the plug on the website and email address.
Fortunately, I still had this blog available which was created before the great adventure of book publishing. Current state is that it will remain with the first volume Upper Nubia for now. The reason is that we are now 6 years into marketing our already small number of printed books. Something that is frankly harder than done, despite the many words of praise from people who have owned the book. The costs therefore ran up before we could create reserves to get volume 2 printed. A separate book with mainly the most beautiful photos from the complete series was also not successful because no publisher wants to publish an expensive thick book with only photos and a brief description in four languages at the back. That only works if you are well known or subsidised. With this, I had hoped to build up reserves and possibly, if successful, also translate the first volume into English. None of this worked out. And despite many entreaties from readers, I unfortunately still have to sell no. But never say never.

Photography

I am also reasonably well known for my photography and am sometimes asked by musea and scientists to supply photographs from my large collection. My photography is so extensive that it will be in a separate website in due course.
